Situation

The user had repartitioned a drive that previously contained a BitLocker-encrypted NTFS volume.

Key evidence

The replacement partition started only a small distance after the original boundary, leaving the original BitLocker NTFS boot information present.

Recovery

Specialist software identified the prior encrypted volume. After the correct password was supplied, the filesystem and user data became accessible.

Lesson

After accidental formatting or repartitioning, stop writing to the device. Surviving encryption and filesystem metadata can be critical, while additional writes can overwrite it permanently.
